What Is Back Country Horsemen?
As Back Country Horsemen (BCH), we are dedicated to preserving and perpetuating recreational stock use, commensurate with our heritage, on virtually all public lands. BCH of America is a national, non-profit organization, formed in 1973, with affiliates in 19 states and a membership of over 16,000.
Who Are Back Country Horsemen Of Idaho?
Back Country Horsemen of Idaho (BCHI) is a non-profit organization with 15 chapters spread throughout our beautiful state.
We are dedicated to perpetuating the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America's back country and wilderness. We work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use and assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of those resources.
We invite you to become actively involved in preserving your heritage of back country stock use by joining one of the existing BCHI chapters.
Who Is The Squaw Butte Chapter of BCHI?
The Squaw Butte Chapter meets in Emmett Idaho, at the La Costa Restaurant on the first Thursday of each month. The business meeting starts at 7 PM, but members and guests usually arrive early to enjoy the excellent food and lively conversation.
Our activities include:
Manning an informational booth at both The Horse Affairs & The Horse Expo;
Putting on a Packing Skills clinic;
Hosting a number of fun rides;
Hosting a delectable Dutch oven cookout;
Putting on many horse camping weekends;
Opportunities for participation in a variety of pack trips;
Working with the Forest Service Ranger Districts on a number of trail projects in the Boise and Payette
National Forests, and the Frank Church Wilderness;
Hosting a 4H fund raiser treasure hunt ride,
Performing our annual Spring and Fall Adopt-A-Highway cleanup
Celebrating the season with our annual White Elephant gift exchange and pot luck Christmas Party.

Squaw Butte Back Country Horsemen meet at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of every month at the La Costa Restaurant in Emmett, Idaho. Social hour starts at 6:00 see you there!
